Gold Dredge or Gold Detectors?

Monday, August 15th, 2011

Gold prospecting may not be your “instant” way to become a millionaire, but it is a way to make extra money and it can be quite a bit of fun.  The price of gold makes it a very lucrative thing to do, simply because even a little gold can put quite a bit of money into your pocket.  Using a gold dredge in a stream or other water source can be a way for you to find gold or you can choose to use a gold detector to find gold veins or nuggets in the ground.  Either way, you will find that gold prospecting can be quite exciting and fun as well.

Gold detectors are another great way to find this precious metal.  These detectors are different from the normal metal detectors, simply because they do not signal small pieces of metal, which is what you most often find gold in.  These small nuggets can quickly add up to make the most of the time that you put into gold detecting.

A gold metal detector can reach deeper depths to increase your chances of finding that larger gold nugget or vein.  If you want to be old school and pan for gold, you will want to look into a gold dredge to ensure that you will not miss any of those precious little nuggets for you.  Gold can make your financial situation more comfortable-if you are willing to take the time to find it.  Gold detectors or gold dredge, the gold nuggets are calling for you.

Where Can You Find Gold?

Tuesday, August 9th, 2011

Gold prospecting is not going to be worth your time if you do not look in locations where gold is even possible.  By doing your research beforehand, you can ensure that your gold metal detectors and gold dredges will actually find some gold and give you a financial boost.  The good news is that gold is naturally occurring in all fifty states, so you should not have to go far to find a place where you can prospect for big money.  What do you need to know about finding a place to prospect?

Geological records are your key to finding places to look for gold.  Gold detectors and dredging for gold will be most profitable for you when you look in places where there is evidence of some gold source.  Whether you are looking in water or for deposits on land, you will want to be sure to do your research to find places for you to begin your gold search.  Even if the gold rush was years ago, this does not mean that the gold was played out.  You may still find flakes or nuggets of gold, if you are willing to use a gold detector or dredge to find it.

Where do you find those geological records?  Your local library may have geological records and/or maps to give you a place to start in your gold prospecting.  While it may not make you an overnight millionaire, if you are diligent, you can add some money to your wallet and be able to feel more secure financially.

Returning Popularity of Gold Prospecting

Tuesday, August 2nd, 2011

Did you know that there is a new gold rush in in California?  You may have thought that the gold rush was almost one hundred years ago, but with the high gold prices, there has been an increase in popularity in gold prospecting.  Using gold metal detectors and a gold dredge will give you the chance of finding gold and making some extra money for you and your family.  It is not an easy thing to do and will not be a quick process, but it can be well worth the effort and time that you put into it physically.

Gold has not been played out in the United States.  Even returning to tried and true gold sites that were popular during the gold rush can net you gold of your own.  There may still be gold flakes or nuggets that you can find to allow you to be a part of the new gold rush.  You only have to use your gold detector or gold dredge to find that gold that can make your life more comfortable or at least a little easier.

The new gold rush has led many people to choose to make gold prospecting their whole life, but you don’t have to make it your full time job.  Even if you want to prospect to get away from it all and get back to nature, you may find that nature will greatly reward you with a little time and effort.  The gold rush is not over, so become part of the new gold rush and put some money into your pocket.

Gold Prospecting

Wednesday, June 15th, 2011

Gold prospecting is an activity that involves searching for and discovering gold deposits. While it is known that it was a real job in the past, today this activity is more used in terms of leisure and fun.

In the States, gold prospecting is focused in the West. Rivers were the main interest point for gold prospectors. Australia, Canada, New Zealand and South Africa are also known to offer recreational prospecting programs.

You may also have heard stories of prospectors who have found big nuggets of gold, ranging anywhere from a couple of pounds to a couple of hundred pounds. Even though they seem unbelievable, they are actually true. Still, these kind of findings happen rarely and that is why gold prospecting is not to be regarded as a possible mean to gain a constant revenue.

But that does not mean it can be a fun activity for you and your family to enjoy over a weekend. As mentioned before, the West is renowned for its gold deposits. But this is only partially true, for there are a lot of gold deposits spread across the country. All you need to do is a little bit of research and maybe you will find a river that has been known to hold gold somewhere in your vicinity. Ask around or browse the internet – you are bound to stumble upon some information and spare yourself a long drive that may or may not have a fruitful outcome.

So grab your pan and try your luck today!

Gold Dredge

Thursday, June 9th, 2011

A gold dredge is a mining machine, built to extract gold from gravel, sand and dirt. It does this by using mechanical methods and water. Its beginnings can be traced back to the Gold Rush when people used pans and riffles. Gold, being heavier than most metals or alloys found in the sand would settle on the bottom of pans and all the impurities would just wash away, leaving it exposed.

A gold dredge works pretty much the same way, but on a way larger scale. Using water to clear away the impurities, the gold will remain in a special compartment in the dredge. They first became popular when hand prospecting for gold was starting to become inneficient. This is because, after the Gold Rush, many of the popular spots have been cleared out.

Big companies came into the picture with big solutions. The gold dredge was born. Massive machines swooped across rivers and river banks in search for the gold that was out of the reach of prospectors. More so, the machines could handle a huge ammount of dirt and sand one time, rendering hand prospecting inefficient.

Lately, due to technological advances in the field, gold dredges are available as an accessory when it comes to gold prospecting. You can practically get a gold dredge which you can carry with you and mount in any place and leave it to do the dirty work. Places that were too tight or with too shallow waters for the big gold dredges are the common targets for portable gold ones and their owners.

Gold Detectors

Friday, June 3rd, 2011

Gold detectors are widely known as metal detectors. Practically, they use a magnetic field that they generate to discover metals in their vicinity. Of course, these metals vary from plain iron, copper and, sometimes, even gold. While some innovations have been made to the metal detector over the years – some of them preventing it to detect gold, for example – today, technology is pretty available to everybody and whoever can afford one, has a chance to find something valuable. Maybe even a gold nugget.

During the Gold Rush, they did not have the advantage of such devices. By using pans and exploring new lands, they took their chances at an easily gained fortune. But today, for example, the largest gold nugget found with a gold detector was found June 16, 2004 at Ganes Creek in Alaska and it had 33.85 ounces.

If you are considering treasure hunting as a fun activity for you or your family, first make sure you learn about the laws concerning findings of historical property. Usually, there are no laws against it – but you will probably have to declare your findings to either museums or to the proper authorities. This is not bad news – these people are instructed historians who can validate your findings and properly asses their value. So do not stay around – contact them and let them know about your findings.

As for the places you can start looking for – they can practically be everywhere. Again, be wary of the laws concerning these kind of things. But to be on the safe side, you can start looking in your backyard, due to the fact that it is your property and you should be okay.

The Gold Detectors on Gold Panning

Saturday, July 31st, 2010

Gold Panning is not a difficult process. Here are the steps to use your gold pans and gold mining equipment to find this precious metal.

Step 1 Locate a spot with gravel you want to sample. This could be anywhere but gold is most often found at the mouth of a riverbed or in a dried up riverbed. This sample of gravel should fill your gold pan approximately 3/4 full.

Step 2 Pick out the larger rocks and locate an area with clear still water that you can use for gold panning and submerge your pan to agitate the loose dirt.

Step 3 Run your hands through the gravel to again remove any loose dirt and allow for the gold flakes to fall to the bottom of the pan. (Gold is heaver than the other materials in your gold pan) Shake your pan back and forth to further agitate the gold pan.

Step 4 Tilt the edge of the gold pan to about a 45 degree angle and shake gold pan left to right. Then carefully start working forward and backward, this might look slightly circular in motion when you are gold panning. (Your goal is to allow the lighter materials like rocks and dirt to run off into the water while leaving the heavy metals like gold in the bottom of your gold pan.)

Step 5 As your work in your gold panning the gravel will become darker in color because of the heavier materials. When you are about down to a salt shaker full of materials you will start to see flakes of this beautiful material.

Step 6 When gold panning the removal of the material is the most fun. If you have larger flakes of gold you can pick them out with tweezers. Others like to use a eyedropper bottle to suck up the gold flakes. Either way this is the preferred process of the pros when gold panning.

I hope you enjoyed these easy steps to gold panning and good luck out there!
